All my clients are feeling horrible, and I’m not sure how to help them.
Everything I hear on the news is bad, and it feels like the world is going to shit.
I used the last of the pumpkin spice creamer in my coffee and then spilled it all over the kitchen before I could take a sip.
Days like these make me want to crawl under the covers and listen to Adele music all day.
But I don’t do that. Instead, I do something to cheer myself up and help me feel safe amidst the chaos…
Seems weird, right?
Most people feel anxious, overwhelmed, and panicked when they look at their money…and it used to have the same effect on me.
But not anymore.
Now, seeing the balances of my bank and investment accounts fills me with a sense of safety and security, because I have the financial resources to help me weather the storms.
It’s not that money solves all my problems.
It doesn’t make my clients feel better…or keep people from hurting others…or prevent me from spilling my favorite hot beverage.
But NOT stressing about money makes me a better listener to my clients, because I’m not distracted by my own money problems.
And having money at my fingertips allows me to donate to organizations that are working to make the world a better, more peaceful place.
My money will also gladly replace the pumpkin spice creamer for my NEXT cup of coffee. (Whew!)
Knowing that I have money in the bank whenever I need it feels like a warm, fuzzy blanket that I get to drape over my shoulders all day, every day.
Having tangible evidence that my family and I will be okay if I get sick or injured and can’t work frees my mind to be creative and playful instead of worried and distracted.
It took creating a spending plan and sticking to it. It required me to differentiate between wants and needs.
I had to learn about money and how to invest it well. I read books, listened to podcasts, and researched on the internet.
But the feeling of financial security and safety makes all the work worth it.
You deserve that same feeling. With some time and devotion to your money, you too will feel warm and fuzzy when you look at your accounts.
Wondering where to start?
